CHRIS A QUINTANILLA

Director, Nonprofit Practice
Director, Information Technology Practice

Mr. Quintanilla has over twenty years of experience in the information technology (IT) industry and has a proven track record of success in multiple business environments. He has served as a senior project manager and engineer for several federal and municipal government IT projects, as a network and systems engineer for IBM's Education and Training division, and as an adjunct faculty member at the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology. He currently works internationally as an information systems and technology consultant for several entities.


Mr. Quintanilla is a member of InfraGard, an organization in which the FBI and the private sector collaborate to share information and intelligence to prevent hostile acts against the United States and its interests.  Mr. Quintanilla leverages his association with InfraGard along with his IT background to advise clients on matters of information security, works with them to implement best practices to safeguard critical systems and classified information, and assists victims and law enforcement after malicious acts occur.


In addition to his IT background, Mr. Quintanilla possesses fifteen years of experience in both nonprofit execution and governance.  He has previously served as a senior staff member in several regional nonprofit organizations, currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Intercultural Family Services, and formerly served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County, and as a member of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania's Teaming for Technology Advisory Board.  Mr. Quintanilla has worked to secure millions of dollars for nonprofit institutions nationwide from programs overseen by the U.S. Department of HUD, the U.S. Department of Labor, the New Jersey Attorney General, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, and from private and corporate foundations.  In 2012, Mr. Quintanilla was honored with the Advocate of the Year award from Goodwill of Delaware and Delaware County.


Mr. Quintanilla’s commitment to public service is ongoing.  He has been appointed as a US Selective Service regional Board Member for Pennsylvania by current President Donald J. Trump and Governor Thomas W. Wolf (D., PA) and formerly as a Board Member for Delaware by former President George W. Bush and former Governor Ruth Ann Minner (D., DE).  Mr. Quintanilla is an officer in the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and is an advisor to the City of Philadelphia’s Personnel Department.  Mr. Quintanilla is a member of American Mensa.

KEVIN J. CAFFERKY, MST, MBA

Mr. Cafferky concentrates his practice in the fields of strategic and financial management, assisting non-profit and for-profit organizations to align their organizational missions and behaviors in seamless integration to achieve their full potential. 


Some of Mr. Cafferky’s clients have included: Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) of Pennsylvania, The Monkey and the Elephant, King’s Custom Clothiers, Starr Restaurant Group, Inc., and McSpain Development Group. 


Prior to joining Saperde, Mr. Cafferky spent fifteen years as the Chief Operating Officer and Controller for the Opportunities Industrialization Center, Inc. (OIC) a not-for-profit education and training program started by the late civil and economic rights leader, Reverend Dr. Leon H. Sullivan. Mr. Cafferky was responsible for all of the operational and financial aspects of the organization and its subsidiaries as well as government and corporate relations. Mr. Cafferky has also taught as an adjunct professor of finance in the Temple University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. He has worked for a healthcare company and an international retail financial services company in a range of financial positions. 


Mr. Cafferky has served in senior positions with several non-profit boards, such as EducationWorks, the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, and as Chairman of the Young Professional’s Network (YPN), a part of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the executive leadership team for the American Heart Association’s “Heart Ball” in 2015, raising over $1.7MM, and the Treasurer and Vice Chairman of the board of directors for Greater Philadelphia Cares (now part of the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey). Kevin was the founding Chairman of the Young Friends of the Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) and also served as the Chairman of the finance committee of the Center City Proprietors’ Association (CCPA). Mr. Cafferky has been a participant in the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce’s “Read to Me” program for over ten years, Philadelphia Cares Day, and the Principal for a Day Program.  He is also a graduate of the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania’s Board Leadership Training program.

CAROL GOERTZEL

Associate Consultant, Nonprofit Practice

Ms. Goertzel is a consultant with over 35 years of experience leading nonprofit organizations in both nonprofit and government sectors. She specializes in Strategic Planning and Organizational Development.


Ms. Goertzel has consulted with numerous nonprofits, both informally and formally, bringing innovation and greater effectiveness to their operation. Financial management and oversight, board development, grantee due diligence, program design, and promoting strategic thinking and planning are her primary areas of expertise. Ms. Goertzel also has expertise in development and implementation of plans for organizational merger and executive transition.


She is both growth oriented and focused on organizational effectiveness and good governance. She is committed to the development of organizational improvement plans in close collaboration with consultant clients. Through board membership in more than six organizations, Ms. Goertzel has facilitated or participated in Strategic Planning and organizational development of agencies, from those with a $200,000 budget through $10 million. Ms. Goertzel has been trained through the Council on Accreditation, Harvard Business School Social Enterprise Strategic Partnership Training and Leadership Philadelphia. Ms. Goertzel has her B.S. from Washington University, graduate work at the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.S. degree in Nonprofit Management from Eastern University. Additionally, Ms. Goertzel has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Commission for Women, Delaware County Commission for Women, Delaware County Workforce Investment Board, and for ten years was President of the Friends of the Delaware County Women's Commission. Ms. Goertzel led the Adult Education Consortium of Delaware County, and was on the Literacy Commission in Philadelphia. She has been selected to participate in the Southern New Jersey and Philadelphia United Way Leadership group, as well as other leadership initiatives.

WILLIAM J. KAPLAN

Associate Consultant, Nonprofit Practice

For over twenty years in the Greater Philadelphia area, Mr. Kaplan has been facilitating processes that have resulted in the design of high performing programs and activities, and in organizations developing stronger leaders who are capable of tackling complex social issues.


Throughout his career, Mr. Kaplan has acquired the knowledge and experience to lead community groups, non-profit organizations, and municipalities through conflict and change. As both a consultant for various groups and as an employee of social service and social change organizations, he has consistently relied upon his skills in conflict resolution, collaborative problem-solving, and organizational change management. Mr. Kaplan believes in the importance of bringing appropriate people together in carefully designed and well-executed processes, asserting that constructive processes creates change.


Mr. Kaplan is a native Philadelphian and a US Army veteran. He studied international politics and economics at Pennsylvania State University and earned his master's degree in intercultural conflict resolution from the McGregor School at Antioch University.

STEVE KROTONSKY

Steven Krotonsky is a savvy business leader with significant experience in driving measurable results through strategic planning, operational management and tactical execution of best practices. 


He is skilled at building organizational and mission alignment through the development of comprehensive operational, communications and marketing strategies that improve the top-line and increase stakeholder awareness and organizational brand at the local, regional and national levels.  He is experienced at resolving multiple and complex issues and representing the needs of a diverse constituency; and, he has a proven history of demonstrating year over year profitability and successful financial management.                                                                                                                          

Mr. Krotonsky is currently a senior advisor to Goodwill Industries International and serves on the National Advisory Board of Enhanced Capital, LLC, a new markets tax credits lender.  Prior to his current consultancy, he was Chief Operating Officer for Goodwill Industries International, Chief Operating Officer for National Industries for the Blind, Senior Vice President for AT&T Campus Wide Access Solutions, and Director of Systems Development for ARAMARK, College and University Division.                                                                                                                               

Mr. Krotonsky earned his bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University and is a recipient of the Smart COO Award from Smart CEO magazine

ERIN MIHALIK

Ms. Mihalik is a 2016 graduate of Temple University, with a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising Art Direction from the Klein School of Media & Communications. With 5 years of Social Media Marketing experience, Ms. Mihalik has experience creating content for a facet of industries: Student Housing, University Admissions, and Market Research.

Ms. Mihalik is skilled in platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and the content-manager platform Hootsuite. She has extensive knowledge of Facebook Ads Manager and is familiar with Google Analytics. Apart from social media platforms, Ms. Mihalik has approximately 5 years of experience working with Adobe Creative Suite programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.

ROBERT C. NELSON

Associate Consultant, Nonprofit Practice

Robert Nelson served as the President and CEO of Philadelphia OIC (Opportunities Industrialization Center) for twenty-five years, where he focused on vastly improving the lives of members of the community by creating critical educational and job training programs.


Nelson joined Philadelphia OIC in 1978 as a counselor while he was attending graduate school at Temple University. He wrote the proposal for OIC Futures, a social/vocational rehabilitation program that provided training in building maintenance, building services and clerical services to individuals with mental health disorders. The program operated for more than 20 years.  One of Nelson’s signature legacies is founding OIC’s Opportunities Inn: The Hospitality Training Institute. The institute, which is funded by the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority, trains approximately 200 people a year for jobs in front office, travel tourism, guest services and culinary arts.


After retiring from Philadelphia OIC, Mr. Nelson became a welcome addition to Saperde’s team.

BONNIE RANEY

Ms. Raney has over 30 years’ experience in business development and administration, including office operations, Human Resources management, process and project management, and training and staff development. Having worked as a salaried employee and as a consultant, she brings a multi-dimensional perspective to analyzing, communicating, and implementing policies, processes and changes.


Ms. Raney’s experience spans a wide range of industries, including accounting, insurance, healthcare services, information technology, and manufacturing; environments have ranged from small business to corporate.


Ms. Raney is also a published author (How to Manage Your Money: Surviving Any Economy).

TED SIKORSKI

Mr. Sikorski provides senior-level, results-oriented counsel in developing comprehensive marketing communication goals and strategies backed with effective tactical elements that inform, inspire and energize target audiences.


His focus areas include internal and external communications, public/media relations, traditional and e-marketing communications, web-based and social media outreach, fundraising/development, legislative affairs and crisis communications planning.  Highly organized and detail-oriented with proven leadership, budgeting, client/business development and supervisory experience, Mr. Sikorsky has extensive experience in business-to-business and business-to-consumer market segments.

Mr. Van Name has had a forty-year plus career of executive leadership, with a successful track record of controlled growth, staff and board development, community relations, strategic planning and corporate governance.


As President and CEO of Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County for twenty years, Mr. Van Name directed one of the largest and most respected nonprofits in Delaware.  Under his leadership, Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County realized a ten-fold revenue growth while providing vocational and education services to over 25,000 disabled and disadvantaged people annually.   Also under his leadership, Goodwill of Delaware & Delaware County established a $1.5 million scholarship fund that provides free GED and community college degrees to employees, their families and program participants.  This scholarship fund was ultimately named “The Ted Van Name Goodwill Scholarship Fund” in honor of Mr. Van Name’s dedication to the Goodwill mission and to enhancing the educational opportunities for all people.   


Prior to his work at Goodwill, Mr. Van Name served as an Executive Vice President for Operations and Marketing for twenty years at Gordon’s Jewelers.  There, he was responsible for the operation of 45 jewelry stores as well as for the marketing and advertising planning for the entire 630 store chain with locations in 45 states and Puerto Rico.  Mr. Van Name has been elected to the Board of Directors of the Nonprofit Insurance Alliance Group and serves as the Chair of the Delaware Commission for Americorps Programs.  He received the Ambassador of the Year from the New Castle (Delaware) Chamber of Commerce in 1999, and the Leaders of Distinction Community Award by the Delaware County (Pennsylvania) Chamber of Commerce, and has been a Rotarian since 1996.  He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Delaware.  

CHARLES GATTSEK

Adjunct Consultant, Information Technology Practice

Mr. Gattsek is a technical/analytical person who made the jump to the business side several years ago.  Prior to Mr. Gattsek’s involvement with Saperde, he has been an owner/operator of a custom software development and application web hosting company along with other interests including real estate endeavors.


Mr. Gattsek is a strong believer that this cross-discipline provides his clients insight into the “why” behind both the business and technical goals which govern their business/organizational decisions.  He has risen through multiple roles, including coder, project manager, telecommunications tech, senior developer, system architect, etc.… and is adept at communicating with clients in order to define and deliver solutions that meet their goals.


Mr. Gattsek has been involved in tech since before client-server technology originated (1995) and therefore has in-depth knowledge of multiple core web-based technologies.  He is also well versed with the latest software development and hosting technologies.  His education was gained thru a contemporary process which gave him insight into actual processes and how they work, as opposed to the point and click knowledge base of today’s consultants.


Mr. Gattsek also brings broad industry knowledge from his term as corporate Manager Information Systems for a publicly traded national maintenance service organization, an owner-operator of a regional Internet Service Provider and private consultant to multiple entities.
